It’s been a busy and fulfilling year, in between blitzes we finally took some time to look back and take stock of what we’ve all been able to accomplish together:

3 – members of PermablitzHI hui at launch September 2011

8 – members of PermablitzHI hui December 2012

12 – # of Permablitzes since launch

25 – average # of volunteers per event

$1,500 – total cash donations received

2,100 – estimated volunteer man-hours activated

$18,000 – estimated $value of design time contributed by hui

$31,500 – estimated $value of volunteer labor activated

$45,000 – estimated value of online media contributed by various supporters

$96,000 – total estimated $value created by volunteer network
(not including materials or produce form the gardens)

Not bad for a moneyless, volunteer-based reciprocal network!

As impressive as these numbers are, they fail to capture the true value created by all of our activities: the quality of relationships we are creating & strengthening in our communities…

…not to mention the amount of fresh, organically grown produce we’ve been able to grow in our own backyards!

Rumor has it that at least one of our lucky blitz hosts has been dutifully tracking and weighing each fruit & vegetable harvested from her backyard foodscape, so hopefully we’ll be able to report on those #s soon!

Happy Holidays Everyone, and thank you again for your contributions & support of Hawaii’s Edible Garden Revolution!
